Walks made for two

Barcelona rewards walking more than almost any city in Europe, and a handful of routes are simply better shared than taken alone.

The Passeig del Born

A wide medieval promenade lined with café terraces and lit by lanterns at dusk, ending at the Santa Maria del Mar basilica. Vermut beforehand is the local sequence.

The seafront at sunset

From Barceloneta to the tower at the far end of the beach and back, flat and level the whole way, with the sun dropping into the Mediterranean to your right.

The Bunkers in the early evening

The hilltop terrace above the city that empties out once the tour groups leave. Bring a bottle of cava and something to sit on.
